Go to map

The dam reservoir picturesquely situated in the valley of the Bystrzyca gorge, created at the beginning of the 20th century after the construction of the 44 m high dam on the Bystrzyca Kamienna River. The reservoir is about 3.2 km long, its width does not exceed 480 m (on average about 300 m). The dam, reservoir and surroundings are a major tourist attraction of the Owl Mountains. The closest villages: Zagórze Śląskie, Michałkowa, Lubachów. The banks of the reservoir are connected by a steel footbridge (which is a suspension bridge), located near the Wodniak restaurant since May 2010 is closed due to poor technical condition. Since May 2012, both the restaurant and the resort are undergoing renovation works carried out by the new owner. Unfortunately, crossing the steel footbridge is possible only on Saturdays and Sundays. Nearby are the underground excavations of the Riese complex - mysterious buildings created during World War II, and on the Choina mountain towering over the lake there are ruins of the Grodno Castle.
