Address: ul. Podzamcze 8 , 57-521 Gorzanów
The Renaissance-Baroque castle in Gorzanów began to be built in 1573 south of the original medieval castle, which was destroyed in 1470. In 1653-1657, when the owner of Gorzanów was Johann Friedrich von Herberstein, the castle was expanded. The building had a rectangular plan with an internal courtyard. The main entrance led through the gate from the north to the economic courtyard, and hence the gate in the north wing of the palace to the inner courtyard. There was a second gate from the south. From the courtyard, a high square tower was erected on the axis of the east wing, which goes into the octagon above. All castle wings are three-storey, they are covered with sgraffito decoration restored in 1906. In 1735 another reconstruction was completed, which gave the interior baroque features. In 1775, the park adjacent to the palace, founded in 1635, was turned into a landscape park. The main palace buildings were used until the end of World War II, later the destroyed were tried to be renovated, but these works were not completed. Currently only the castle outbuildings are used.
