The Podgórze Mine in Kowary is the second largest uranium mine in Poland. Exploitation of the deposits lasted until 1958, from 1974-1989 it housed the only Radon Inhalatorium in Poland and the fourth in the world, in which patients could use underground inhalations of noble gas with radon. It is also the deepest dive site in Poland, the greatest daredevils are still exploring the flooded part of the mine, discovering its secrets. So far, it has been possible to dive to a depth of 157 meters in the mining shaft, which is 244 meters. Water in the deeper parts of the mine appeared spontaneously. It is groundwater. Uranium ore was pumped 24 hours a day during mining. Temperature underground: around 8 ° C. Humidity: approx. 97%.
