The park is located in the Central Sudetes, south of Wałbrzych, hence the name, although there is no mountain range called the Sudety Wałbrzyskie. It covers the central, highest part of the Stone Mountains - the Lesista Range (851 m a.s.l.), the western part of the Suchy Mountains with Waligóra (936 m a.s.l.) and the eastern part of the Wałbrzyskie Mountains and Rybnicki Grzbiet. From the south it borders with the Czech landscape park CHKO "Broumovsko". Highest point 936 m a.s.l. - Waligóra, and the lowest about 400 m a.s.l. The area of the Park belongs to the Baltic Sea basin. Poorly developed hydrographic network. Groundwater is not important due to the lack of aquifers. More important streams are: Rybna, Sokołowiec, Złota Woda and Grzędzki Potok. An interesting phenomenon is the Rybna Hoodage, which as a result of retrograde erosion, "intercepted" the upper, spring section of Ścinawka and flows through a deep gorge valley to Bystrzyca.
