This dam is the second-largest (after Solina) and the second-largest dam in Poland. In addition, it is the highest stone and arched dam in our country. Its height is 69 m and the width of its crown is 270 m. As a result of its construction, a reservoir with an area of 240 ha and a capacity of 50 million cubic meters. The dam is built of stones connected with concrete. It was opened in 1921. Water from the tank feeds power plant turbines, which are located in a building that looks like a family house. At that time, Pilchowice Power Station generating over 8 MW of electricity was a technical marvel.
