Szrenica is clearly the dominant peak of Karkonosze over Szklarska Poręba in the height of 1362 m a.s.l. The top of the mountain is located above the upper forest limit and works as an excellent vantage point. At the top of Szrenica there is a hostel building, dating from 1921-22. Below the top is the Krkonoše Meteorological Station (formerly: High Mountain Meteorological Observatory in Szrenica) operating since 1957. It is the only station serving educational purposes for students of geography and environmental protection. The entire Szrenica massif is made of Karkonosze granite, which, as a result of weathering, formed on the summit and on the slopes groups of rocks and rock debris that cover, in particular, the eastern side of the slope. Gołoborze is covered with yellow-green lichen, which resembles frost from afar, hence the name "Szrenica". There are three routes to Szrenica: - the red tourist trail from Szklarska Poręba Górna, - the green trail from Jakuszyce, which circles the top from the north, - the black connecting route from the upper lift station. Szrenica is eagerly visited in summer and winter. Is one of the most popular ski areas in the Polish Giant Mountains.
