Address: Plac Najświętszej Marii Panny 11 , 57-420 Wambierzyce
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Wambierzycka, or Wambierzycka Queen of Families, Patron of the Kłodzko Land, is a Baroque basilica, built in the years 1715 - 1723. In 1936, Pope Pius XI gave the church the title of a minor basilica. The present basilica is located on a hill, where in the 12th century a statue of the Virgin Mary was placed in a niche of a tall tree. According to legend, in 1218 blind Jan from Raszewo regains his sight in this place. After this event many pilgrims began to travel to Wambierzyce. Soon an altar was erected under the tree with the figurine, and a candlestick and baptismal font were placed on the sides. In 1263, a wooden church was built here, while in 1512 Ludwig von Panwitz built a larger temple of brick. However, it was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. In the years 1695-1711 a new church was built in this place, which, however, quickly began to collapse and was demolished in 1714. In the years 1715-1723 another temple was built by Count Franciszek Antoni von Goetzen, which has survived to this day. In 1936, Pope Pius XI gave the church the title of minor basilica. On August 17, 1980, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński coronated the Mother of God figurine with the title of Wambierzycka Queen of Families. The equipment of the temple consists of: a presbytery separated from the nave by a lattice; main altar being the work of Karl Sebastian Flacker. In the center of the basilica there is a statue of the Madonna and Child adored by two angels. The figurine comes from the end of the 14th century. In the nave on the south side there is a baroque pulpit, which is an illustration of the hymn Magnificat. The pulpit is crowned with the Holy Spirit, below is the Madonna surrounded by angels. Personifications of the continents of America, Europe, Asia and Africa sit on the canopy. The body has sculptures of four evangelists. Altars from the 19th century are placed in the niches of the presbytery: St. John of Nepomuk, Saint. Walentego, św. Anna, Saint. Joseph and Saint. Antoni. Above the door on the north wall hang paintings of St. Jadwiga Śląska, St. Otylia and St. Apolonia, and on the northern wall of St. John Sarkander, Saint. Francis Xavier and Saint. Of Karol Boromeusz.
