Mały Staw is a mountain flow lake, filling the bottom of a glacial boiler, located at an altitude (1,183 m a.s.l.). It has a depth of up to 7.3 m, shoreline length 756 m and covers an area of ​​2.881 ha. The lake is characterized by clean and transparent water. In warmer months, the water temperature reaches a maximum of 14 ° C. For a significant part of the year the lake is covered with ice. The poor fauna is represented by a wire, which is a glacial relic. There is also a mountain newt and brown trout, as well as a melanistic variety of the common toad. Łomnica flows through the pond, whose sources are located on Równia pod Śnieżką.
