Established in 1977 to protect the cave, the forest growing in buffer zone and karst phenomena, it covers an area of ​​89.05 ha. The area of ​​the reserve is overgrown with beech and spruce coniferous forests with an admixture of fir and larch and calcareous plants in the undergrowth, such as slender aconite, wild larkspotted, Tatra sesleria and others. It is located in the Eastern Sudetes, in the northwestern part of the most interesting part of the Śnieżnik Massif, on the slope of the Stroma hill, where there are, among others excavations of closed marble quarries. The one of the most beautiful Polish caves, the Niedźwiedzi Cave and Kleśnica Valley, are among the main assets of the reserve.
