The Table Mountains are an extremely fascinating place for all lovers of hiking and contact with nature. You can also count on many climbing attractions, and in winter use cross-country ski trails. The Table Mountains National Park is not only good tourist infrastructure and a multitude of walking and cycling routes, but also fantastic rock formations and interesting mazes that can be traversed. The Table Mountains are the only plate mountains in Europe, and this makes them a place worth exploring. Szczeliniec Wielki, forming one massif with Szczeliniec Mały, is the highest peak of the Table Mountains (919 m a.s.l.), belonging to the Crown of Polish Mountains. From the so-called The Pradziada armchair, a huge rock at the highest point of Szczeliniec, offers a wide view of the Sudetes - even Goethe admired it. This massif owes its name to a characteristic sculpture - from a distance it resembles giant tables with clearly flattened tops and steep slopes. It is built of horizontal layers of sandstone, marl and limestone. As a result of successive elevations and subsequent equations, as well as erosion caused by wind and rainfall, three levels of rock have formed in the Table Mountains: the first at an altitude of about 900 meters, the second from 500 to 800 and the lowest at 400 meters. However, what most attracts tourists here and is the most characteristic feature of these areas is the multitude of interesting rock forms. The attraction of the table mountains is undoubtedly the rocky city on the top of Szczeliniec with interesting rock systems, called Camel, Mamut, Elephant or Owl. The Piekiełko corridors and the Devil's Kitchen breathe a secret, and the rocks with very romantic names Princess Emilka's Cradle and the Heart of the Mountain Spirit nature arranged so that they can be moved despite their considerable size. An extraordinary experience will also be provided by a trip to the stone mazes - Errone Rocks - located in the Skalniak massif, where squeezing through narrow, rocky corridors is the biggest attraction. Equally interesting formations will be seen in places less popular among tourists: Skalne Grzyby, Radkowskie Skały, Skałki Łężyckie reminiscent of the savanna landscape or Rocks of Puchacz are worth seeing. Spruce forest and numerous viewpoints add charm to hiking. Thanks to the intensive weathering process of sandstone, we can admire in the Table Mountains many different rock forms, such as crevices, ravines, individual rocks of unique shapes. When going on a trip to these areas, do not forget to take warm clothing - when we delve into the rocky passages, we will feel the local microclimate, wetter and cooler than in the open.
