The castle was once a nest of robbers knights, it was probably built by Bolek I. At its feet there is the picturesque, winding Lake Bystrzyckie. It is located in the southern part of the Wałbrzyskie Mountains on the top of the Choina mountain (450 m a.s.l.). During the Thirty Years' War, it was occupied and partly destroyed by the Swedes. The last owners of the fortress abandoned since 1774 were the von Zedlitzowie. In 1789, the southern wing of the upper castle partially slid down. In 1824, on the initiative of pastor Busching, its owner at that time, renovation works were started. Further work took place in the years 1868-1869. In 1904, among others a hostel with an inn was opened. Since 2009, the castle has been owned by the Walim commune. Grodno Castle is mentioned by a German sapper, Leonhard von Schreck, author of mysterious letters received by the author of books devoted to the secrets of Lower Silesia, Joanna Lamparska. Under the Grodno courtyard, supposedly, it was supposed to be hidden and surrounded by mines, a mysterious sheet-metal chest. The museum facility was created here in 1965 by the PTTK Branch in Wałbrzych. The museum collection consists of own exhibits found in the castle after World War II, and borrowed from the Regional Museum in Wałbrzych. Various cultural and tourist events are organized here, including such as: - THE MEDIEVAL FARM, - THE MIDDLE AGRICULTURE TO THE GRODNO CASTLE, - THE PICNIC AT GRODNO CASTLE.
