It is located on the Castle Hill (396 m a.s.l.), whose slope breaks from the side of Nysa Crazy by a sharp cliff, and the gentle eastern slope occupies the city. It is a highland castle. Currently, the castle houses the Regional Museum (branch of the Krkonoše Museum in Jelenia Góra), which is managed by the Knights' Brotherhood Association of the Bolków Castle, founded in 1995. The castle was built of local stone: devalzaltic crystalline slate, green and red, sandstone. The most characteristic element of the castle is the tower with a bow (its height is today 25 m), which was built on the green rock. In the lower part of the tower there is a former hunger dungeon. The museum is located in the Renaissance part of the castle (House of Women). The first mention of the castle comes from 1277 when the Legnica prince Bolesław II Łysy called Rogatka states "castro nostro". However, the very creation of a Gothic castle is associated with the reign of his son, Bolek I. During his reign he is surrounded by huge stone defensive walls with a system of gates, and brick residential buildings were erected. During this period, the aforementioned bow tower is also being built. In his several hundred years of history he served, among others function of the prince's treasury. It was besieged, conquered and rebuilt many times. He witnessed many events often chilling the veins of which only historical messages and ghosts haunting the stone walls of the stronghold remained on a moonless night. The castle hosts numerous events such as: -Castle Party - a festival of Gothic music, takes place annually at the turn of July and August -Travelers Festival Three Elements - a festival of travelers, takes place every year at the beginning of September -Days of the Silesian-Sorbian Medieval Culture -Open Tournament Journalists from Shooting from the Historical Crossbow - Tournament Councilors - Grand Knightly Tournament - Midsummer Knightly Meetings. An important role for the castle is played by the Knights' Brotherhood, which aims to renew the former splendor of the castle. It is primarily responsible for organizing knightly tournaments. The stronghold also had interesting functions in movies, literature and television. She appeared in such series as: -The Witcher - the castle appears in episode 11 "Buttercup" of the series, is also found in the movie of the same title, - The Secret of the Cipher Fortress - in episodes 3 and 8 as a castle in Scotland. She also appeared in the book Felix, Net i Nika and the Third Cousin by Rafał Kosik - During a trip to Lolków, which is probably Bolkow. The castle was also the background for television programs: - Labyrinths of Culture - a program implemented by Regional Television Wrocław, - Grain - a Catholic program for young people. He was also shown in music videos: Vader group "Sword of the Witcher", Ensiferum "in my sword and trust", Castle Dreams "Lover".
