Castle ruins situated on a hill stretching over the Gryfów Śląski - Mirsk road. The building was built in the thirteenth century, erected by the prince of Głogów Konrad on the site of the former Bobrzan castle. Until the end of the fourteenth century, the castle was in the hands of the dukes of Świdnica, then it passed into the hands of the Czech king Wenceslaus IV. In 1419 it became the property of the Schaffgotsch family and remained in their hands until 1798. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the building was enlarged and strengthened, including by adding attics to the upper castle and expanding the lower castle and the entrance gate. It was besieged by the Swedes twice, in 1639 the castle defended itself, but it was captured in 1645. One hundred years later, in 1745 it was taken over by the Prussian army, and in 1778 it was already a strong fortress. Originally, the castle consisted of three elements: the upper castle, the middle castle and the lower castle. The highest part of the castle was built on the plan of an irregular pentagon, the middle castle was located to the north, while the lower castle occupied the most extensive eastern part. In the chapel on one of the walls was once painted the image of the griffin, from which the name of the castle comes.
