The oldest object located on Śnieżka - the highest hill of the Sudetes. The building was erected in 1655, on the initiative of the founder Count Krzysztof Schoffgotsch. The building was consecrated on August 10, 1681. From that time regular services were held here until 1810. Chapel of St. Wawrzyniec on Śnieżka is the highest situated monument of baroque art in Poland among sacred buildings. The chapel's construction is rotund type, 14 m high and built on a circular plan with a diameter of about 7 m. Its interiors are vaulted with a flattened dome, walls covered with paintings from the 1880s. The whole building is lined with vertical boards that replace the original shingle. Outside, the chapel rotunda is topped with a conical tent roof covered with shingles. The building's windows are oval, filled with contemporary stained glass. The chapel's equipment includes, among others, an altar and statues of the Mother of God, Saint. St. Lawrence and St. Adalbert. In the vestibule there are commemorative plaques and the epitaph of Jan Pieniazek. Every year on St. Wawrzyniec, August 10, takes place here at an altitude of 1602 m a.s.l. solemn mass. Currently, the chapel is adapted for tourist purposes. It is open every day. You can enter the vestibule and get acquainted with its interior after a thorough refurbishment carried out in recent years. In 2010 year. thorough renovation of the frescoes was carried out here.
