The ruins are located on a steep cliff, on the left bank of Pełcznica, about 800 m from Książ. The discovery of the castle was made only in the years 1991–1992, until now the ruins were considered to be the remains of a building from the 18th century. As a result of research, it turned out that at the turn of the 9th and 10th centuries there was a stronghold that was rebuilt into a stone castle around the 14th century. On the initiative of Hans Heinrich VI von Hochberg, in the years 1794 - 1797 it was transformed and was rebuilt into a romantic residence. The rooms of the castle have a number of rooms, including prison with a torture chamber, a court room, an arsenal, a bedroom, a picture gallery. The castle served the owners of Książ to receive distinguished guests and organize parties and games. One of the most interesting elements of the castle was the tournament square with lodges and galleries, where the first tournament took place on May 20, 1799. Around 1,000 people were watching then. In the mid-nineteenth century, the castle transformed into a tourist facility. In May 1945, when the soldiers of the Soviet Army took over in Książ, the castle burned down completely. To this day, small fragments of the main building, tower and chapel, two Renaissance portals and ogival windows have survived.
